What changed

Players receive a rank at rating uncertainty (RD) of 150 or lower. Match count no longer determines eligibility. Confidence is High up to 80, Medium above 80 up to 120, Low above 120 up to 150, and Provisional above 150.

Why it changed

Match count alone does not tell us how certain a rating is. A player can establish their level in fewer than ten matches, while someone with many older results can still have too much uncertainty for a rank.

How this affects players

Players previously labelled Low confidence become Unranked. They keep their rating and remain available in Group Builder. Players can lose or regain eligibility at each rating update. Historical ranks now use each date's RD too.

What changed

The lowest rating shown on the site is now 0. The same minimum applies everywhere: standings, player pages, stats, match context, and Group Builder sorting.

Why it changed

Negative ratings looked broken and felt too punitive, especially for new players with only a few results. Zero is easier to understand as the bottom of the visible rating scale.

The site now shows one rating everywhere, with confidence included. The same number is used for the main standings, player pages, stats, match context, and Group Builder sorting.

Why it changed

Showing one rating beside a player and using a different order for groups was confusing. Players should be able to trust that the number they see is the number used by the app.

Confidence is now included directly in rating. A newer or returning player has less confirmed information, so their rating starts more carefully. As they play more matches, confidence usually improves and the rating becomes less conservative.

This also means a rating can move slightly even when a player did not play. If someone is inactive, confidence can fade a little, and the rating can drift down until new results confirm their current level.

How this affects players

Everyone sees the same rating that the app uses to rank players and build groups. There is only one rating to compare.

What changed

The Group Builder started sorting players by rating with confidence included. At the time, this only affected group order. On June 5, 2026, the site changed again so that same rating became the single visible rating everywhere.

Why it changed

The previous group order treated every rating as equally certain. That felt unfair in two common situations: a returning player could keep a slightly higher rating after a long break, and a new player could start too high before the system had enough match results to know their level.

Confidence measures how sure the system is. Using confidence in group sorting gave active, well-measured players the benefit of that certainty when groups were built.

How this affects groups

New or returning players could be placed a little lower until more match results confirmed their current level. Active players with steady recent results were less likely to be pushed down by less certain ratings.
